Family Crest Design Project

Created original graphic design of family crest for family reunion t-shirt design.

Timeline: April 2026 - July 2026

I started by creating a Pinterest board for inspirations and ideas for my family crest design that best represents my family and my family's culture as an African American family.

I sketched the family crest with a lot of intentions and meaning behind it.

The lions represent courage and strength that we have as individuals but also as a whole family.

The white doves represent that we are a free family and goes back to the last name Freeman that is a part of my family tree.

The shield colors are red, green, and yellow each color meaning something

Red - the bloodshed of Black American ancestors
Green - the abundant natural wealth of the motherland (Africa)
Gold/ yellow - peace, hope and prosperity
Black (behind the dove) - the resilience and skin color of Black Americans

*Note: They wanted to see an option of the shield with a black outline instead of gold but ended up liking the original color scheme.

Fully rendered version

Below are multiple versions of the designs with added features that they wanted to see.

*Note: the differences is the outer ring has a black outline on two and the other two has just a gold ring with no black outline.
